1. HMC goes Social Media - An interactive workshop – PART A

  • Target group: anyone, who uses any kind of social platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, X, Mastodon, Facebook, Medium, etc.) (max. 16 participants)
  • Abstract: In this workshop, we are kicking off an in-depth HMC Social Media Campaign. We will evaluate which topics and types of information can be appealing to the public. You are invited to share your experiences on professional online platforms with us and identify promising HMC content and campaigns. Your insights will guide our process in defining the HMC Social Media Strategy. PLEASE BRING YOUR PHONE TO THE WORKSHOP
  • Objective: This session will give a broader insight into the social media habits, reasons for user engagement, and HMC content possibilities. The results of this session will be foundational information to the initialization of the upcoming HMC Social Media Strategy.

2. Product engineering for HelmholtzKG : User Experience Research (UXR) for development of the Helmholtz Knowledge Graph (HKG) and UnHide – PART A

  • Target group: Co-development users (HMC staff), Scientific Information retrieval users, management level users, domain specific content creators, staff that works for Helmholtz organizations (max. 16 participants)
  • Abstract: At this discussion table, we will explore and discuss possible use cases for the Helmholtz Knowledge Graph (HKG). We will engage in structured sets of UX exercises for our exploratory discussion, which intends to inform the participants of the possible methods that could be employed to do user research for the HKG. Participants interested in further contributing to the development of the HKG will be able to directly get in touch with active contributors via this discussion table. We look forward to seeing you there!
  • Objective: Collect user stories for the HKG, identify and discuss key use cases

3. Taskforce: FAIR document writing workflow

  • Target group: everyone (max. 14 participants)
  • Abstract: CCT3 proposed some task forces and we want to start a discussion about the expected result/content. In particular, we want to talk about the task force ‘FAIR document writing workflow’. CCT3 has already written several documents and used a workflow that adheres to the FAIR principles as far as possible. The experience gained here is a valuable basis for the proposed Task Force. But further input and discussion is of course also welcome! In the end we intend to describe a new concept of a FAIR document writing workflow in a short guidance document.
  • Objective: Find input/ideas and expected result/content of proposed task forces; especially for ‘FAIR document writing workflow’.
  • Agenda: Discussion & brainstorming

 

4. Enhancing Collaboration in HMC: Strategies for efficient Joint Software Development Teams

  • Target group: Developers (max. 10 participants)
  • Abstract: The session will delve into the collaborative aspects of cross-unit joint development teams within HMC. The discussion will cover several areas:
  1. Cross-Unit Joint Development Teams:

    • Exploring the dynamics and benefits of forming joint development teams across different units.

    • Identifying best practices for collaboration and communication within these teams.

  2. Technical governance:

    • Establishing a conflict resolution process for technical questions and architectural decisions for ensure smooth project progression.

    • Defining the role of a leader within these teams to provide clear guidance and decision-making authority.

  3. Necessary Resources:

    • Identifying the essential resources required by development teams, including tools, training, and support.

    • Discussing strategies to ensure these resources are readily available and accessible to all teams.

  4. Tools and Blueprints for Processes:

    • Considering whether HMC teams should have recommended tools and standardized processes.

    • Evaluating what types of recommendations or standards would be beneficial without being overly restrictive.

    • Discuss the option of a Deployment Unit to simplify the deployment of projects within HMC.

  • Objective: The goal of this session is to collaboratively develop a framework that supports effective joint development efforts, ensures governance and resource allocation, and establishes useful tools and standards for HMC teams.

 

These points can already be addressed, or shaped into a task force mission:

    • Joint Development Teams: Explore collaboration dynamics and best practices.

    • Governance: Establish conflict resolution processes and define typical roles and responsibilities

    • Resources: Identify and ensure availability of essential resources for teams.

    • Standards: Consider useful recommendations and standards for tools and processes.

  • Agenda:
    • Introduction (10 minutes): Overview of current status

    • Brainstorming Session (30 minutes): Group discussion on experiences and needs regarding the list from the abstracts

    • Wrap-up and identification of next steps (10 minutes)
