Description

We investigate the possibility that i-process nucleosynthesis could be activated in the evolution of interacting binaries with a CO WD and a He-rich donor. In this systems the main neutron source is the ${}^{22}\mathrm{Ne}(\alpha,\mathrm{n}){}^{25}\mathrm{Mg}$ reaction occurring during recurrent He-flash episodes triggered by mass transfer. We also discuss the potential contribution of these systems to the galactic chemical evolution budget.
