Code of Conduct

The Helium burning and perspectives for underground labs (HELIUM25) workshop brings together scientists working in nuclear astrophysics, including laboratory experiments, theoretical nuclear physics, astronomy, and astrophysics. 

 

We greatly appreciate the participation of every attendee and aim to ensure that everyone has a positive and fruitful experience. Consequently, all conference attendees are required to respect other attendees and comply with the following Code of Conduct. Any participant who needs and wishes to report a violation of this policy is encouraged to speak to Eliana Masha, Jakub Skowronski or any member of the Local Organizing Committee since they volunteered to serve as points of contact. Alternatively, if needed participants may choose to approach another member of the organizing team. Thank you for your contribution in creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all participants.


Code of Conduct


This code of conduct applies to all participants in the Helium Burning for the Synthesis of the Heavy Elements workshop. Comments and suggestions are welcomed any time.

 

The workshop organizers and participants are committed to provide a warm, inclusive, professional, and secure environment where all individuals are encouraged to freely express and exchange scientific ideas. The conference upholds principles of tolerance, equality and mutual respect, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, sexual identity or any other personal attributes. Any form of bullying or harassment will be strictly prohibited and not tolerated under any circumstances. All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience of many different backgrounds. No participant should be disadvantaged, feel they are in danger or subject to repression or harassment because of these reasons or others.  Treat others with kindness and avoid insulting or demeaning fellow attendees. Maintain professional behavior.

 

Harassment includes offensive jokes or verbal comments related to gender, nationality, sexual orientation, physical appearance, body size, race, disability, religion. It also involves act such as displaying sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, persistently disrupting talks or events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

 

Bullying refers to behavior considered unwelcome or unreasonable and can demean, intimidate, humiliate, or sabotage people, either as individuals or as a group. It includes intimidation, physical bullying, verbal abuse, disparagement, exclusion, or spreading personal rumors.

 

Conference participants asked to stop unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. The workshop will not allow retaliation against any individual who makes a report of known or suspected code of conduct violation. Sanctions against participants violating these rules and deliberately making false accusation about harassment are at the sole discretion of the conference organizers and may range from warnings to being asked to leave the event.
