We look forward to welcome you to our HIFIS & friends All-Hands meeting in September 2024, at DLR Cologne! All detailed information will be collected on this page.

Important: A valid identification document is required for access to the DLR campus. Passports (Reisepass, Perso) only, no replacements allowed.

Timing

In brief:

  • For interested early-birds, we will gather for a pre-meeting dinner on Sept 11 evening, in Cologne.
  • For members of HIFIS SAB and Federation Board, we will have an additional closed session (hybrid) on Sept 12 10:00-12:00.
  • The main event will last from Sept 12 noon, to Sept 13 early afternoon.
  • For interested, we will have a tour on DLR campus on Sept 13 early afternoon.

Accomodation

Please do your reservations asap in any of the following nearby hotels:

  • &repeat (in some cases still called 'Jaumanns') - approx 20 mins walk from DLR
  • ART Hotel - approx 20 mins walk from DLR
  • Moxy Köln Bonn Flughafen - approx 30 min with public transport; or 10 min with Taxi from DLR
  • B&B Troisdorf - approx 30 min with public transport; or 15 min with Taxi from DLR

Location and how to get there (and away)

  • See here for a guide and a detailed walkway from nearby hotel to the meeting location
  • The main event will take place in Building 53, Geländeeingang Pforte Nord 55
  • If you want to travel by train, please also consider this offer of the Helmholtz Association.

Restaurant

Transfer to/from day 1 dinner location

The following organised bus transfers are envisioned. We will query all registrants for their actual transfer needs.

  • 12.9. 05:45 pm from DLR to the dinner location (The ASH). 

  • 12.9. 10:00 pm from dinner location to

    • train station (Spich Bahnhof): You can catch trains in the direction of Cologne City, Cologne/Bonn Airport, and Siegburg/Troisdorf.

    • &repeat and ART Hotel

    • Moxy Airport hotel.

In case you want to leave the restaurant earlier/later, it's a 15 minute walk to the train station Spich Bahnhof.
