Evolution of the Earth System from the Early Earth to the Quaternary

Geological archives allow us to reconstruct the evolution of the Earth system over timescales from years to hundreds of millions of years. Using continental archives to investigate the paleoenvironmental, paleoclimatic, and geodynamic evolution of the Earth system has long been a unique research topic at GFZ. Working towards future sustainability will require a thorough understanding of natural Earth system dynamics, for which such long-term records are essential. To inform and update us on the current state-of-the-art of this research at the GFZ and explore venues of future research we are pleased to announce a workshop titled "Evolution of the Earth System from the Early Earth to the Quaternary". The workshop will consist of presentations by the GFZ community and provide an opportunity to discuss potential future cooperation, link different timescales and to develop new ideas.
