General:
The Helmholtz-SESAME soft x-ray beamline is a new state-of-the-art beamline in the soft x-ray regime at the synchrotron radiation facility SESAME which will soon be open for international user access.
In order to qualify a group of early users from the SESAME region, a dedicated lecture & training course for the HESEB beamline will be offered on 8 – 9 May, 2023 at SESAME. The lecture & training program aims at providing prospective users with the essential theoretical and experimental background knowledge in soft x-ray science and related techniques to enable them to use the beamline, and allow them to gain first practical experience at the beamline.
The HESEB soft x-ray lecture & training course:
The program will extend over two full days at SESAME and comprise the following elements:
Participation in the hands-on training is limited to five participants to provide a good and stimulating learning experience and enable addressing the specific needs and requests of the participants.
Successful applicants will enjoy full coverage of the costs for travel and accommodation as well as a daily allowance.
Audience:
The program is targeting researchers from a university or a research institution in a SESAME member, i.e., in Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, Palestine, and Türkiye with concrete ideas for the use of soft x-rays at SESAME in their forthcoming research projects, but feel that they are still lacking the necessary experience.
Applications:
Prospective participants are requested to register here and to submit an abstract, summarizing their general research interests and discussing their concrete experimental plans for a project at HESEB. The length of this abstract is limited to 2000 characters including blanks. The deadline is March 26, 2023.
