by car
- via highway A4 (from the east and from the west)
- leave highway A4 at exit 85 "Pulsnitz"
- follow the S177 in the direction of "Radeberg / Pirna" for 11 km
- turn left at junction "B6 / Bautzner Landstraße"
- turn right after 1 km to reach HZDR
- via highway A13 (from the north)
- leave highway A13 at exit no. 23 "Dreieck Dresden-Nord"
- follow highway A4 in the direction of "Görlitz" (see above)
- via highway A17 (from the south)
- leave highway A17 at exit no. 6 "Pirna"
- follow the B172a in the direction of "Radeberg" for 23 km
- turn right at junction "B6 / Bautzner Landstraße"
- turn right after 1 km to reach HZDR
by plane

- busses from HZDR start directly in front of the main entrance at bus stop "Rossendorf Forschungszentrum"
- take bus no. 261 in the direction of main station ("Dresden Hauptbahnhof")
- runs hourly (10:13, 11:13, 12:13, 13:13, 14:13, ...) and takes 40 minutes to the main station
- from Dresden main station to Dresden airport by shuttle-train S-Bahn S2
- take the shuttle-train (S-Bahn) S2 in the direction of Dresden International Airport ("Dresden Fliughafen")
- runs every 30 minutes (11:09, 11:39, 12:09, 12:39, 13:09, 13:39, 14:09, 14:39, 15:09, ...) and takes 21 minutes to the airport
