Scientific Programme

Sunday 18.11.2012

18:00-20:00 Registration and reception at BESSY: Beer, vine, beverages and typical German "Abendbrot".
The registration will be open on Monday and Tuesday mornings and during the coffee breaks.

Monday 19.11.2012 Status Reports I - III
Chair: Pedro Fernandes Tavares

Guided tours through the facilities

During this time there will be a hands-on demonstration in the control room of some of the features of the MLS. The following tools for manipulating and measuring non-linear alpha buckets will be presented:

  1. demonstration of injection and energy ramp
  2. short bunch generation through low-alpha operation -> bunch squeezing observation by a streak camera
  3. impact of octupoles - on-line determination of all three non-linear chromaticities as a function of the octupole currents
  4. generation of non-linear alpha buckets with high beam currents "double beam operation"
  5. measurements on simultaneously filled non-linear alpha buckets

Note, due to the space limitations in the small MLS control room participation is limited to six persons only. Please register by sending an email to joerg.feikes@helmholtz-berlin.de - participation will be on the first-come-first-served basis.
