Description

Sustainable chemicals must neither be persistent nor form persistent transformation products, but chemical innovation outstrips current testing capacities. New tools are needed to cope with hundreds of thousands of chemicals produced and with their transformation products. This includes both, high-throughput testing and predictive tools.

This workshop brings together industry, academia, regulatory authorities, and policy makers to discuss the major challenges on the way forward to modernizing the assessment of persistence and transformation products of chemicals.

Objectives

  • Exchange on existing strategies and remaining challenges in modelling and high-throughput testing of chemical persistence and formation of transformation products
  • Elaborate how existing data can be made readily available to feed prediction tools
  • Exchange on requirements for industrial implementation and regulatory acceptance
  • Elaborate the way forward in testing and modelling.

Abstract submission

For the working group discussion we invite a limited number of input presentations (1-2 slides, max 3 min). These must not report on projects and their outcome but provide a potentially important aspect or hypothesis for the group discussion.

If you wish to give such input, please select the preferred working group and section and provide a short title. Due to time constraints accceptance of your input presentation cannot be ensured.

Please send an email to Thorsten Reemtsma (thorsten.reemtsma@ufz.de) with the following information:
