Course content:
This course will introduce the Rules for Good Scientific Practice at AWI. These rules are based on the Code of Conduct “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice” of the DFG and must be implemented by all research institutions.
Rather than reading through the 20 paragraphs of the rules, we will discuss critical aspects of good scientific practice in daily research life, such as proper documentation and quality control of research results or authorship in publications. We will use some case examples to illustrate the pitfalls and grey zones of authorship, data ownership, and so on. Finally, we will explain in detail what you can and should do if you suspect scientific misconduct and how allegations are dealt with.
Target group:
Master students, PhD candidates, Postdocs, and all other interested persons.
Pre-requisites: None
