Course content:
With a completed PhD you are fully qualified for a broad spectrum of very interesting jobs outside academia. Currently, we are more and more experiencing an employee-market. That means employees can choose from a large variety of jobs. However, the transition process between academia and the “outside world” may appear as a major hurdle. Usually, the concept for a potentially successful CV and cover letter is not very clear for many PhD cand and postdocs.
Day I: Wed. 10th December 25 09:00-13:00
Day I - Job ads: Reading and understanding them. Compiling a convincing CV, Cover letter – What to put into it.
Preparation for Day I: You will need to submit two concrete job ads you could be interested in. The job ads should be rather different in the profile they address.
Day II: Wed. 7th January 26 10:00-12:00 (participation optional)
Day II: Feedback for your documents – hand in anything that you have prepared. your job ads.
Preparation for Day II: Prepare a convincing cover letter and CV for each of your job ads.
Work in between course days: approx. 4-6 hours
This workshop is useful if…
• you are currently preparing an application for world outside academia or if you will do so soon.
• Participation in the course is mandatory if you wish to schedule further individual appointments with the PROCEED team regarding future applications for jobs outside academia.
