Description
OMERO is "an enterprise image data management platform that enables access, processing, sharing, analysis and where appropriate publication of scientific image data and metadata."[1]
HIFIS has funded adding central group management via HIFIS' VOs to the OAuth2[2, 3] authentication and authorization mechanism of OMERO. Helmholtz Munich has now added an instance of OMERO with this new feature to the list of HIFIS Cloud Services[5] to be used by all Helmholtz centers.
We show how users who logged into OMERO.web can generate a JWT token and use this token as a temporary password to login using the OMERO CLI or OMERO.insight. This allows to use the usual single-sign on option for the OMERO tool chain.
With these mechanisms in place, the new OMERO instance can be used in scientific
workflows that combine other HIFIS services, like dCache for storage and GitLab for code.
