SPRING Final Conference
Preparation of an EU Pollinator Monitoring Scheme

The SPRING project ran for almost three years and has helped support preparation for the implementation of an EU Pollinator Monitoring Scheme (EU PoMS) for wild bees, butterflies, hoverflies and moths. EU PoMS is a major deliverable under the EU Pollinators Initiative. The conference will be held on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 with a programme from 10am to 4pm. 

The conference is an opportunity to present the outcomes of the SPRING project, covering a range of topics such as: expanding the European Butterfly Monitoring Scheme and other citizen science approaches for pollinators, building capacity through taxonomic training and developing a Pollinator Academy, piloting a Minimum Viable Scheme of EU PoMS across the EU for wild bees, butterflies and hoverflies using a combination of transects and pan traps, testing alternative sampling methods for moths (light traps) and wider insect diversity (malaise traps).

The conference will gather  key actors involved experts, public authorities, actors involved  in the development and implementation of pollinator monitoring schemes in EU Member States, including public authorities, field surveyors, taxonomists, academia, citizen scientists etc
