The Helmholtz AI platform was created to democratize the access to AI methods across all Helmholtz research fields and centers. One of the key offerings of Helmholtz AI are the Helmholtz AI Consultant teams, who render their services for free for all Helmholtz researchers through support vouchers.
We are the consultants for the research field Earth and Environment, located at DKRZ, and will visit GEOMAR for discussions in person. As part of our visit, we will give an introductory seminar that summarizes the way we work and what we have on offer for you. We will give insights into typical problem statements from Earth observation and Earth System modeling that are good candidates for experimentation with ML methods and report on our accumulated experience tackling such challenges with individual support projects. Given sufficient amounts of data and initial scientific problem statements from Helmholtz researchers, we work towards assembling practically meaningful demonstrators within a couple of months, laying the groundwork for further research projects. During the seminar, we will bring a few example cases that illustrate the range of problems and methods we work with.
After the general introduction seminar from 10:30-11:30, we also offer a number of optional “walk-in consulting slots” where you can discuss with us your individual ML challenges and gain some first feedback. Please register for these slots in advance, so we can better match our expertise to your questions.
