The LabTour to the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology takes you into the world of raw materials, and tackles the challenges of a sustainable circular economy. The tour includes visits to the laboratories of the processing department, in which you can see and learn about the processing of materials from primary as well as secondary resources. In addition, you will have the chance to discover the newly built metallurgical pilot plant that will be the place for pyro- and hydrometallurgical experiments at pilot scale. Furthermore, the tour stops at the pilot plant for metal recovery built into two containers, which is able to extract copper, indium or other target elements from bioleaching solutions, and utilize it through electrolysis.
