With the aim to increase the visibility of female scientists working at Jülich in society, we, the women's network female Voice at FZJ, have started the campaign "Increase Female Wiki-bility" this year. On this year's International Women's Day on March 8th, we asked you to propose inspiring female scientists from our community for our campaign. We would like to take the opportunity to thank our staff for the many responses we received!
Highly motivated by the good response, we are now very pleased to invite you to the second part, the "Write'athon" on September 2, 2022. It is the starting signal for the joint debate on female careers in science and the writing of inspiring articles about their careers. Our goal is to be able to scroll through a large number of published Wikipedia articles about female Jülich researchers on the International Women's Day 2023. Join us and support us in making the outstanding achievements of our female scientists visible together!
The "Write'athon" - professional writing workshop in fall 2022
Together with the experienced Wikipedian Grizma from Berlin (Co-founcer of FemNetz a feminist network in German Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProjekt_FemNetz and co-organizer of WomenEdit in Berlin https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WomenEdit), we will start with a brief overview of the world of Wikipedia. Based on preliminary search and suggestions from the staff, a list of Jülich female professors whose biography should be shared on Wikipedia are available. Select an exciting personality from this list in advance of the event (optional). Please chose someone you are not collaborating with in your daily work. During the event, you will work in small teams or alone to develop a roadmap for writing an article. Our experienced Wikipedian will support you with tricks and tips for the preparation and writing of the articles.
Program
The event will be held in German, but participants can also write their articles in English. Wikipedia knowledge is not necessary, enthusiasm and a laptop are sufficient.
The Write'athon will take place at the FZJ in the lecture hall and the foyer of the library
