In this workshop we aim to identify the specific needs of university groups organised within DAPHNE regarding small-scale, on-side SciCat installations. The workshop is organised in collaboration between TA3 and TA2 of DAPHNE as well as the SciCat Collaboration.

While we aim for a more general introduction into SciCat in the beginning of the workshop, there will also be room to address questions with increased technical depth in the round-table discussion.

We would like to cover at least the following topics (non-exhaustive list):

  1. Typical use-cases of small-scale SciCat installations
    • which kind of data sets?
    • how does the data enter into SciCat?
    • how to import (old) existing data sets?
  2. Specific feature needs (to be defined during the meeting), e.g.
    • data ingestion through web-interface
    • metadata schema management ideas
    • ...
  3. The ease of deploying SciCat in a production ready environment without extensive IT support
    • envisioned deployment strategies
    • user account provisioning (AAI)
  4. Further aspects
    • will be part of the round-table discussion

Potentially this workshop may lead to a draft on how to collaboratively coordinate SciCat activities within DAPHNE to ensure sustainability of these developments.
