Course content:

Accidents and medical emergencies can happen anywhere – at work, during an expedition, on the road, or in everyday life. In our first aid course, you will learn how to act safely and quickly in critical situations. The course provides you with:

  • Lots of case studies, lots of fun, and peer-learning
  • Practical exercises for work-related or private emergencies
  • Important basics such as resuscitation, recovery position, wound care, dealing with heart attacks, strokes, poisoning, electric shocks, or burns
  • A legally compliant training in accordance with the requirements of the employers' liability insurance associations

 

Whether at work or as a refresher or for your driving licence - this course gives you the confidence to react correctly in any case of emergency.

This course is certified by the “Berufsgenossenschaft” (German employers’ mutual insurance association). Proof of participation confers on you the title “Ersthelfer:in” (*) and is furthermore valid for the boat driving permit or a German driving licence.

Participants should be prepared to take an active part in exercises.

Additional info: Please bring clothes that can get dirty.

Target Group: PhD Candidates, Postdocs, Staff

 

(*) Trained persons who are able to provide first aid measures to bridge the time gap until the ambulance and the emergency team arrive. The permit is valid for two years and can be refreshed by a 1-day-course.

 

Our courses are generally free of charge for all participants. However, they do have a price and can cost SEA / the AWI as much as 150 € per day per student. Please take this into account when cancelling your place at the last minute. Please, always send cancellations to sea.courses@awi.de
