Course content:

This is a hands-on, digital self-learning course with five live sessions that addresses early career researchers who, by the time of the course, are actually working on a manuscript for a peer-reviewed journal. Participation is strictly recommended only to those who have a draft to work on. In the best case, you will be able to submit your manuscript by the end of the course. To this end, the Paper Writing Academy will guide you in small steps through the entire writing process. From week to week, you will see your paper gaining structure and content.

You will start by adopting productive writing strategies to get ready for a smooth and pleasant writing experience. You will develop a realistic plan for writing the paper as a part of your daily work routine and learn how to decide on a paper topic, co-authors, and journals for submission.

Next, you will write all the needed sections for your research paper step-by-step until your paper draft is finished. You will learn about paper editing and how to transform your draft into a publishable text.

The complementary material (including videos, audio files, and PDF worksheets) of this digital course is available 24/7. Questions and problems can be addressed within the group or through live sessions with the instructor throughout the programme. The Paper Writing Academy can be followed from anywhere, parallel to your daily research work.

Topics covered include (amongst many others):

• How to prepare for writing

• How to plan your writing

• How to write Abstract and Introduction

• How to write Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion

• How to edit for clarity, style, and format

• How to get helpful feedback on your manuscript
