We warmly invite you to the upcoming Information & Data Science Incubator Workshop 25-2, taking place from November 24-25, 2025, at MDC in Berlin-Buch.
Workshop Overview
This workshop will be a special milestone — it’s the first one with the participation of Martin Keller, the designated president of the Helmholtz Association. We’re excited to use this occasion to showcase the people and initiatives shaping the Information & Data Science framework.
We’ll also take the opportunity to work together on shaping the framework’s strategy, particularly around engineering support for research software and services. This could include, for instance, supporting the development of RAGs on Blablador — and more.
Another key moment will be the update from the Helmholtz Foundation Model Initiative. Since the first cohort of projects will be at the halfway point of their funding period, and the second cohort approaching their one-year mark, we’re looking forward to scientific highlights and fresh insights from their work.
Thirdly, over the last months, the platforms and the head office have closely coordinated to develop a portfolio of funding instruments to help address timely and crucial projects in Information & Data Science for the years to come. This concept takes into account input from the last two incubator workshops. Therefore we're particularly excited to present and discuss the future concept for INF funding in the Information & Data Science Framework.
As always, the workshop will also leave space for participant-driven topics. If you have something you’d like to bring to the table, please reach out as soon as possible so we can see how to include it in the agenda.
The workshop follows a lunch-to-lunch format, The program starts Monday, November 24, 2025 at 12 noon and finish on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 around 2pm. There will be lunch on both days, as well as dinner on Monday.
Please note that the details of the agenda are still being developed, so check back here often. We will also use this page to make available preparatory material for the workshop.
