The course provides participants with expertise in research ethics, offers space for reflection on their values and attitudes as researchers, and allows them to practice handling conflict-laden situations in their research practice. Participants gain knowledge of the rules of good scientific practice and train their competencies in making responsible decisions in their everyday research work.

Content and scope are based on the DFG memorandum as well as the guidelines of the HZDR for ensuring good scientific practice.

This training is primarily designed for doctoral researchers who began their project at HZDR in January 2025, are in their first PhD year, have been working on their project for at least 4–6 months, and are affiliated with a university other than TU Dresden. Participation is also open to others in a similar phase of their doctorate.

Day 1: January 22, 2026 | 9:15am - 5pm

Day 2: January 23, 2026 | 9:15am - 1:30pm

Participation on both trainig days is mandatory. Please refrain from registering if you are unable to attend the full training duration on both days.

Location: oline via Zoom (The Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants approximately one week before the event.)
