Abstract:
In his presentation, Robert Ulrich introduces us to the basics of the semantic web and the underlying technologies. The semantic web (also called Web 3.0) is a vision for a further development of the current World Wide Web (Web 2.0), in which data is made understandable and usable not only for humans, but also for machines. The aim of the semantic web is to structure information in such a way that computers can interpret it better and link it together in order to offer more intelligent and contextualised services.
It provides the technologies, standards and concepts to link data meaningfully, to make its meaning machine-readable, and to keep it permanently accessible, interoperable and reusable - in other words, to obtain FAIR data.
Background Information:
The Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) invites you to engage in an exciting series of talks on FAIR Data through the HMC FAIR Friday lecture series. Renowned experts from around the world will present key aspects of FAIR data, offering deep dives into the topic and sparking discussions on best practices and new perspectives. HMC FAIR Friday is aimed at professionals in research data management as well as researchers from all disciplines of the Helmholtz Association and beyond, who want to learn more about the importance and implementation of FAIR principles.
