Become a certified data science instructor

Europe/Berlin
Description

Do you want to learn how to teach data science skills to others and be a certified data science instructor? Then apply for a HIDA-sponsored seat at an instructor training provided by the non-profit organisation The Carpentries.

With this training opportunity, HIDA wants to raise the number of people within the Helmholtz Association who can provide excellent data science training to others. As Platinum member at The Carpentries, we get the opportunity to send 15 people to one of their instructor trainings. To find out more about the instructor training, visit their website

To become a certified instructor via HIDA, there are the following requirements:

  • You are part of the Helmholtz Association
  • You are familiar with at least one of the technologies that The Carpentries teach (R, Python, the Unix bash shell, SQL, Matlab and/or Git). The training will not teach any of those subjects, but will instead focus on developing skill and knowledge about evidence-based teaching practices and workshop procedures,
  • You are willing to co-teach at least two HIDA-organised courses (e.g., Python, R, Git, Shell) once you completed your instructor training. Our courses are usually 1 day long and taught by 1-2 instructors, following the curriculum/ lesson plan provided by The Carpentries.
