Course content:

It is quite difficult to prepare well for a job interview when you have only a vague idea about the questions that may be asked. Naturally, one can feel insecure and that feeling will very likely be transported during the interview as well. This course is a short introduction into a very reliable technique to prepare for questions you do not know in advance. This course is split into two parts: a short theoretical input and a longer phase in which you can collect practical experiences with the technique.

Part I: Qualifications, competencies, skills, knowledge, personality traits and behavior - What is the difference? What is important for job interviews when looking for a job outside academia. Which type of questions brings which type of answer? – and what is the best way for a candidate to deal with different question types.

Part II Broad opportunity to experience different questions and your reactions to them. You will get extensive feedback and several runs to try again.

This workshop is useful if…

• you want to prepare for job interviews outside academia

• you feel insecure about “right” or “wrong” answers.

• you would like to learn an easy way to give answers to unexpected questions.

What participants say about this introduction:

"This introduction provided a very clear concept of competencies, and skills and all the other relevant things on the list. I never knew that it makes such a big difference to talk about skills or attitudes."

"The practical experience in many runs and the immediate feedback really helped me to experiment with different approaches."

"I now have a clear picture of the preparation for my next job interview."
