Large Language Models (LLMs) provide unprecedented opportunities in Natural Language Processing (NLP), enabling both text generation and text analysis tasks such as summarization, classification and recognition of named entities such as locations or substances. Additionally, LLMs play a growing role in science communication, supporting interactive data exploration (e.g., EcoToxFred) and facilitating the science-policy interface by generating context-aware and audience-tailored content.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
- Fostering networking and knowledge exchange on the application of LLMs in Environmental Research.
- Mapping current and planned LLM applications at UFZ.
- Setting topics for future UFZ Research, e.g. PhD Cohorts.
- Initiative for a review/policy paper on the status, gaps and urgent needs in the field of monitoring, understanding and minimizing chemical pollution in the “One world”.
