Helmholtz colleagues involved in the management of a Research Infrastructure (whether classified as LKI or LKII) that has the potential to host external users are occasionally invited to participate in (or be part of) an existing European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) or an ESFRI.
This online exchange provides an opportunity to reflect on both the benefits and challenges associated with joining an ERIC or an ESFRI from the perspective of Helmholtz centres.
The discussion will focus on the following key topics:
- How access is organised within an ERIC or ESFRI, including examples from INFRA-SERV projects
- The rights and responsibilities of a Research Infrastructure that is part of an ERIC or ESFRI
- Financial considerations, including the settlement of ERIC or ESFRI membership fees and costs incurred by users through the ERIC or ESFRI
During the online exchange, participants will gain insights into the experiences of colleagues involved in ERICs, ESFRIs and INFRA-SERV projects. The online session will also include time for open discussion.

As the online exchange will be held under the Chatham House Rule, no detailed minutes will be recorded. However, a general summary including the main points of the discussion will be shared with participants after the meeting.
