The Helmholtz Association makes a significant contribution to cutting-edge research addressing major challenges – not least through the use of highly innovative computer-based methods. Research software is a driving force behind this innovation and has become a vital part of today’s scientific landscape. With the growing use of digital tools in all areas of research, the demand for reliable, sustainable, and high-quality development and maintenance of research software throughout the Helmholtz research ecosystem continues to grow.

With our new call for proposals, “ScienceServe: Boosting Research Software at Helmholtz,” we are placing a clear emphasis on the advancement of research software.

In this information event, we will present and explain the background and motivation for the call, discuss the different objectives and the selection criteria, and present the expected activities in 2026.
