VI FLUKA Advanced Course

Asia/Shanghai
Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China

Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China

Description

Introduction

This is an advanced course directed to FLUKA users with previous experience with the code.

It is organized by the Lanzhou University (LZU), and will be held in Lanzhou from May 25th to 31st (registration on May 24th, leaving on May 31st), 2025.

The course program will cover mostly advanced topics in FLUKA, with lectures and challenging exercises. Students will learn how to:

  • build complex geometries;
  • deal with voxel structures;
  • implement electric/magnetic fields;
  • precisely set the simulation parameters;
  • get the best out of the FLUKA scoring;
  • tailor the bias settings;
  • program user routines;
  • perform GCR calculations;
  • fully take advantage of new features;
  • ...and much more

During the workshop the attendants will also present and share their experiences, problems and personal solutions. All students will have the opportunity to interact directly with the simulation software development group, including its original authors.

Registration process and dates

Note: To ensure instructors can prepare targeted course materials, we need to finalize the list of participants in advance. The registration deadline (including payment of registration fees) is

              May 1st, 2025

Like all previous courses, the intake is limited and acceptance will be on a first come/first served basis. In case the limit on the number of participants is exceeded during the registration stage, a waiting list will be set up.

Course fee
This course is an international non-profit program, strongly supported by Lanzhou University as the host institution.

The registration fees for participants are outlined in the table below, covering tuition fees, meals, networking activities, etc., but excluding accommodation.

To meet the requirements of the FLUKA development team and instructors, as well as to ensure the effectiveness of the course, it will be conducted in   a small-class format, with a maximum of 50 participants. We encourage you to register as soon as possible. Please note that, after registration and payment, refunds will generally not be provided in the event of non-attendance (but transfers may be allowed).

Registration before March 1st   ¥3000 (USD$420)
Registration after March 1st ¥3500 (USD$500)

Computers

Your personal computer is needed to perform the course exercises. Please look at the Personal Laptop section for requirements

Prior Knowledge

It is expected that all participants are already capable of performing FLUKA simulations.
The course will be taught directly by key members of the FLUKA development team, in english.
