Description

Short Summary

Basic topographic analysis and the display of topographic data is important for many scientific applications. Here we propose a 2-day short course covering the topic of topographic analysis using TopoToolbox, a Matlab toolbox developed by W. Schwanghart (Uni Potsdam) and D. Scherler (GFZ). Since the release of version 2 of the TopoToolbox in 2014, it has been continuously extended by new tools and functions, most of which are extensively documented in an accompanying blog (topotoolbox.wordpress.com). As of March 2021, the TT2 has been cited approximately 350 times on Google Scholar.

The course is aimed at students/staff that already have basic coding experience; it shall not review the basics of Matlab. The objective of this course is to learn (1) the functionalities of the TopoToolbox, (2) how to conduct standard topographic analysis, including flow routing and swath profiles, for example, and (3) how to display topographic data for publications.
