It has become a popular tradition to celebrate the Muslim Eid Festival at UFZ together with UFZ colleagues and other institutes. Come and join us on 4^th April for this joyous occasion!

Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr immediately after the Holy month of Ramadan. Our PhD students and Scientists would like to celebrate their Eid-ul-Fitr festival, also known as “Zuckerfest” in Germany, with you. This festival marks the end of Ramadan and is celebrated over the following three days with family and friends across the Muslim world.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a joyous occasion filled with festivities and leisure. Families and friends come together to prepare traditional meals and enjoy Eid gatherings. It is customary for individuals above the poverty line to offer donations to those in need. People dress in new traditional clothes; especially women ornament themselves with jewellery and apply different patterns and the latest designs of Henna on their hands and feet. Muslims visit relatives and give presents or money (Eidee) to children. Special Eid cards are also sent, to loved ones living far apart with warm wishes and heartiest greetings. The traditional way of greeting each other is to say “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid)!
