Title:
Base4NFDI: Basic Services for NFDI - PID4NFDI and DMP4NFDI
Abstract:
Base4NFDI is the joint initiative of all 26 NFDI consortia and supports the development of basic services as common, interoperable solutions. This talk will introduce the project, its funding and service development process and support offerings. Furthermore, two basic services will be showcased in greater detail:
PID4NFDI as a centralized infrastructure service for managing persistent identifiers within NFDI aims to standardise PID usage, enhance governance, and support interoperability across consortia. By integrating various PID providers and consolidating metadata practices, it addresses challenges in infrastructure consistency, policy development, and long-term PID management.
DMP4NFDI as the centralised Basic Service for managing data management plans (DMPs) and software management plans (SMPs) across NFDI will host the open-source DMP tool RDMO, coordinate template creation, standardise content, and offer guidance and support to consortia staff responsible for DMPs. The service aims to enhance communication among stakeholders, support data collection and review processes, and foster interoperability by engaging consortia early on to refine requirements and develop standardised DMP templates.
