Lortzingstr. 3
Description

After-work event organised by the UFZ International Café initiative

The next event of the UFZ International Café leads us to the Natural History Museum in Leipzig on a guided tour with its curator, Prof. Dr. Ronny Maik Leder.

For over a hundred years, the Leipzig Natural History Museum has been a central institution for intergenerational science education. As biodiversity archive it is the memory of a unique history of science - a place of science, where items of flora, fauna, geology and archaeology are collected, preserved and researched. The museum takes you on a three-storey tour through topics of local ecology, archaeology and zoology.

With the takeover of the collections of the Zoological Museum of Leipzig University in the early 1970s, the Natural History Museum Leipzig has become an internationally important institution that is reaching its limits at its current location. Taking this into account, the City of Leipzig will create a modern and significantly larger museum within the next few years. The new museum for "Natural History and Biodiversity" will offer an innovative exhibition concept and various educational programs and sees itself as a forum for generations. During the tour, you will also get to know more about future plans.

There is no admission fee, small donations are welcome.

Meeting point: 19 March, 4:50 pm, museum entrance (Lortzingstraße 3)

Places are limited to 25 people, please register here by 10 March.

We will be happy to meet you there!
