You have a lot planned and even more to do – but somehow you never get to the essentials? You feel like planning is meaningless because life always interferes? You wonder how you can organize yourself so that you can focus on your work?
Effective time management is crucial for both scientific and non-scientific work, preventing stress and supporting self-management. The workshop primarily targets advanced researchers but is open to early-stage postdocs as well. They are under great pressure to advance their personal career while simultaneously facing diverse demands from supervisors, colleagues, and doctoral students. The workshop will focus on role reflection, setting boundaries, saying no, prioritizing tasks, managing distractions (especially digital), and identifying time-wasters.
In detail: The workshop addresses three key components of managing work time:
Date: April 29, 2025 + Follow-up-appointment (This 3-hour online session in autumn 2025 will be scheduled together with the participants.)
Location: on-site, Chemnitzer Straße 40, 09599 Freiberg, 230+231 (Indium, Germanium)
Trainer: Dr. Christiane Kasack
Language: English
Method: Before the workshop, participants will complete a survey to share their experiences and concerns. They will also keep a work log during the week prior, which will be reflected upon in the in-person workshop. The workshop will include plenary discussions, small group work, peer coaching, and individual tasks. The final session focuses on applying the learning by setting personal goals and planning steps. Tandem support will be arranged, and a follow-up online appointment will take place in autumn 2025 to ensure continued learning.
