In the annual Helmholtz AI project call, funded by the Initiative and Networking Fund (INF), we are looking for 'high risk, high gain' cross-field research projects in applied machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Selected projects can get up to €200k in funding from the INF, which has to be matched by the participating centers with the same amount of money or more (≥€200k). Projects should be completed within a maximum of three years. More details about this year's project call and already funded projects can be found on our website.
For the first time, we are offering these information events where you will have the opportunity to learn about the call and ask live questions to the Helmholtz AI project management team.
All Helmholtz researchers and external partners (e.g. academic, non-profit or companies) interested in the Helmholtz AI project call 2021.
When? 02 November, 10 - 11 am CET
Where? Online (the BlueJeans link will be sent to all registered participants)
A second information event will be held on October 12, 2021, from 10 - 11 am. More details can be found here.

Dr. Sahar Behzadi Soheil (HMGU) will present the 2019 Helmholtz AI funded project Noise2NAKO(AI).
Noise2NAKO(AI): Using AI to identify the impact of environmental factors on health (HMGU + DLR)
The project uses innovative AI and ML methods to investigate long-term impacts of environmental factors on human health. In a case study, the participating researchers will first develop area-wide noise maps and then link these to health data from participants in the health study “German National Cohort (NAKO)” in order to identify vulnerable clusters at risk of hypertension.
The registration period begins on September 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. (CEST) and ends on November 02, 2021 at 11 a.m. (CET).
