We will visit the State Operation Company of Environment and Agriculture (Staatliche Betriebsgesellschaft für Umwelt und Landwirtschaft, BfUL), which is an interface between science and practice. With a focus on providing information on environmental and agricultural data to the public, other government agencies, the scientific community, and decision makers, in-depth knowledge in the fields of radiation physics and radiochemistry, pollutant and emission measurements, hydrology, soil, fertilizer, feed and seed analysis, etc., as well as water analysis and nature conservation monitoring is profound.
Dr. Thomas Heinrich (Physicist and Head of Portfolio 2, Pollution Control & Radiation Protection), Thomas Höpfner (Hydrologist and Head of Portfolio 3, Water & Meteorology Monitoring Network Operations), Dr. Manja Delling (Chemist and Head of Portfolio 4, Agricultural Analyses) as well as Dr. Sascha Goldstein (Chemist and Mineralogist and Head of Portfolio 5, Environment Analyses & Nature Conservation Monitoring) will talk about their daily work, the transition from science to science management, answer your questions and show you laboratories, measurement technologies, a robot for gravimetric weighing and many other very interesting things. Last but not least, Dr. Mathias Böttger, Managing Director of the BfUL, will greet you at the beginning of the meeting.
