Description

With the increasing use of electronic lab notebooks at the UFZ, we would like to give you the opportunity to approach the topic and gain initial hands-on experience with a workshop on the eLAB lab notebook system (https://www.elabftw.net/). The workshop is aimed at all interested colleagues working in the laboratory.

Folgende Fragen sind bislang zurückgemeldet worden / The following questions have been raised so far:

        1. What's the deal with the backup via TimeStamp and BlockChain in eLabFTW? Which is more helpful, which requires more memory / more energy?
        2. How can we integrate external programs via the API? Are there any plans/support for this at the UFZ?
        3. What about data security in the (unlikely) scenario that the UFZ computers succumb to a virus attack and we can no longer use the computer network? Are there any ideas for offline backups of the eLabFTW?
        4. Is there a functionality within the program (or a workaround, e.g. via the database function) to create and manage a sample list with unique IDs and metadata core?
        5. How is Version management / track changes working? Protection against / documentation of subsequent changes -> important in case of patenting issues.
        6. How can I organize my lab book? Is it possible to introduce an index, or s.th. similar? Is it possible to introduce a folder structure and bundle methods / experiments of a category (e.g. growth experiments, analytics, imaging…)
        7. How can I insert images and videos directly into the results section?
        8. Are there existing open source databases that can be easily integrated into eLAB?
        9. Is it possible to create chemical directories and the like?
        10. What are the compatibility or export options to other electronic lab book systems?
