For some Doctoral Researchers and Postdocs, the decision is clear: they see their career in academia. But many others see their professional future outside of scientific research or they weigh up different alternatives.
One interesting option for scientists is the switch to industry. How do employers view scientists with a doctorate? What are important requirements? What are success factors when applying in industry?
Can an MBA (Management and Entrepreneurship) be a good additional qualification?
The workshop will take up these questions and help you to find answers for your own decision-making process and strategy.
Part 1 will give an overview on what makes natural scientists (with a doctorate) interesting for industry and what special qualities and competences are expected by industry.
In Part 2, we'll explore the exciting potential of pursuing an MBA. Join us as Prof. Dr. Stefan Bergfeld offers insights into the program and recounts his own journey. With a background as both an MBA alum from FH Aachen and a distinguished Professor of laser technology and material science, along with being the founder of Bergfeld Lasertech GmbH, Prof. Dr. Bergfeld brings a wealth of firsthand experience to the discussion.
Please mind that, although the language of the event will be in English, the MBA course needs a sufficient level of German in order to participate.
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Stefan Bergfeld (Prof. at FH Aachen, Founder and graduate of MBA Management und Entrepreneurship)
Facilitator: Svenja Klinkenberg, Career Center & Postdoc Office
When registering for the event, please let us know your questions for the discussion so that we can take them up in the talk and have a lively discussion.
A light lunch and drinks will be served.
